Yellow onion Laaer

Grow your own onions from seed. Sow the seeds about 1 cm deep in March - April. They need good heat to germinate but then the plants should be kept cooler so that they don't think it's summer and time to form an onion (about 15 degrees is good). Harden off and plant outdoors when the risk of frost is over. The plant wants to be firmly planted but not deeper than it was in the pot. It's best to plant the onion plant with the clod of earth left in. It can be a bit tricky because onions have quite thin and thready roots. Wish the plant good luck and be sure to clear weeds because onions grow poorly with competition.

If you want to grow your own spring onions, sow the seeds tightly in a 10 cm wide strip so that the bulbs stand and are crowded together. They should be about 2 cm in diameter when they are ready. Dry the small bulbs and you have your own spring onions. For those of you who are extra gardening nerds and want to check off an odd growing hack.
