Harvesting sugar snap peas is all about capturing the summer vibe. They are perfect snacks and can be used in everything from cooking to eating them straight up. May/June is a great time to start growing them.
Growing peas is super easy! Just get a good-sized pot for your balcony or patio and enjoy your own peas all season long. Harvest the sugar snap peas as they ripen. The pods are tastiest when they are still flat. And the more peas you pick, the more new flowers form. Unlike many other legumes, sugar snap peas can be eaten raw.
All our seeds are produced in Sweden by dedicated growers who cultivate on a small scale and sustainably. Simply meticulous craftsmanship from start to finish. In collaboration with Nordfrö.
The kit contains:
The seeds come in a neat seed packet. Maybe a gift for yourself or a cool friend who you think should start growing? So come on, let's grow!
Sugar Ann
Sugar Ann is an early, low-growing shelling pea that reaches about 50 cm in height. Shelling pea means you wait until the pod is full of almost fully developed peas. You eat everything, and a juicier and sweeter vegetable barely exists. Sow in several batches to have access to beautiful pea pods throughout the summer and autumn. Remember that the soil should be slightly warmed for the seed to germinate well. The earliest sowing is when you start thinking about getting out your shorts but aren't wearing them yet. Needs a little support.
Grown by: Rachid & Selma at Köksträdgården in Hällestad (Lund) and Jonas & Sanna at Bossgården (Tidaholm).
Germination 2024: at least 95%.
Allegria
A legendary and super tasty bush snap bean of the haricot vert type that never overgrows. Slim, fine beans of the highest quality with small greenish-white seeds. Sets the beans nicely gathered under the foliage and does not "run away". It doesn't become fibrous, even when the beans have developed. Perfect for short blanching and individual freezing. Compact plant, about 40 cm high.
Grown by: Britt-Marie in Linnemölla (Kristianstad)
Germination: At least 90%.
Norli
The 'Norli' sugar snap pea is excellent for growing in our Nordic climate. It's an early variety that yields a large harvest of tasty, crispy pods. Grows to about 60 cm high, making it suitable for growing in pots or raised beds. The plant is sturdy but may need support. Has a sweet, good taste and can be eaten fresh, lightly cooked, or stir-fried. Harvest before the peas are fully developed and the pod is still flat. Sow directly outdoors in April-June. It is advisable to sow in batches to have access to these delicacies for a longer period.
Grown by: Joe in Tolg (Växjö).
Germination: at least 95%.

Ambassador
Ambassador is an award-winning marrowfat pea with robust growing vines that have fewer leaves than other varieties, which facilitates the harvest of the blunt pods containing about 8-9 peas each. Provides a good harvest, and the peas are equally good fresh or frozen. Grows to about 80 cm high.
Grown: by Mimmi in Ryggestorp (Tranås).
Germination: at least 95%.
